Elm with hidden steel fixings
Commissioned by The Woodland Trust in partnership with Easington
District Council
Sighted at Ellemore Woods, Haswell, County Durham
Height 3.5 metres
1998
This seat is situated in the middle of an attractive glade,
facing south, and first seen through the trees on a ridge when
approaching from the south. The double layered curved design
is intended to cocoon anyone sitting in the seat, offering a
sense of security and creating an inward reflection of light.
The four verticals root the seat into the ground, and connect
up into the surrounding trees and sky.
