Since the early 90’s, I have
been particularly engaged in developing creative education with young
children. I see a strong relationship between this work and my environmental
artwork, because the design of a sympathetic educational environment
is absolutely critical to the value of a child’s experience.
My learning has developed through a close partnership with the organisation
Sightlines Initiative, which has become a leading force in the progressive
development of early years educational work in the UK.
I have been engaged on numerous projects working with young people
over the years, and traveled a long road of philosophical development,
and understanding of good practice. I continue to work with young
people, particularly in Early Years settings.

I am now being offered the opportunity to share my experience with other educators, artists, and early years practitioners, through invitations to run training sessions, and to speak at Seminars and Symposiums.
The most recent of these have been at Bristol University as part of
a programme of training ‘Creativity and Confidence in the Early
Years’, and at Cambridge University on ‘Learning from
Reggio Study Morning’.

If you are interested in reading more about my educational work, and
the understanding that I have developed through my contact with children,
and through working with some very gifted educators, I invite you
to read the following article. I originally wrote and presented this
as an introduction to 'In
At The Deep End', an autumn 2001 residential seminar for artists,
who are building their professionalism as enablers in UK early years
settings. It has subsequently been used in training settings as a
means of introducing progressive ideas in educational work. |
